What is tea versus a tisane?
Answer: Tisanes (French: Teezans) have no actual tea leaves in the blend. Only the plant species, Camellia Sinensis is the actual tea leaf.

The tea leaf is dried, then naturally fermented and manufacture processed into black, or oolong tea. Green tea has very little fermentation, and white tea leaves are actually the youngest or baby leaves of the plant with some controlled fermentation. All other blends of botanicals are called tisanes and most cases contain no caffeine unlike tea leaves. In terms of tea leaf antioxidant content from highest to lowest, it's white, green, and then black.
